{"id":2510,"date":"2014-10-22T15:19:32","date_gmt":"2014-10-22T14:19:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.edwardsd.co.uk\/work\/?p=2510"},"modified":"2022-12-09T16:22:12","modified_gmt":"2022-12-09T16:22:12","slug":"unable-to-access-dfs-share-windows-7-mapped-drives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edwardsd.co.uk\/work\/2014\/10\/unable-to-access-dfs-share-windows-7-mapped-drives\/","title":{"rendered":"Unable to Access DFS Share | Windows 7 Mapped Drives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Mapped network drive to DFS share is not allowing access.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This operation is supported only when you are connected to the server&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you try to remap the drive with different credentials the following error appears:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different username and password.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network share.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Looking in the EventVWR the following is logged:<\/p>\n<p><em>EventID1004:&nbsp;Path &#92;Server\\DFS transitioned to slow link with latency = 115 and bandwidth = 13265936<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rebooting doesn&#8217;t fix the issue<\/li>\n<li>Remapping doesn&#8217;t fix the issue.<\/li>\n<li>Entering the direct server UNC path allows full access (as it should)<\/li>\n<li>Applied regedit to force Auto Reconnect to the server but still didn&#8217;t fix the issue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre class=\"brush: plain; title: ; notranslate\" title=\"\">Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00\r\n\r\n&#x5B;HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\NetCache]\r\n&quot;SilentForcedAutoReconnect&quot;=dword:00000001\r\n<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Fix:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the end the really simple workaround was to &#8220;Disable Offline File Sync&#8221; and reboot the system.
