I used JamSoftware &#8220;<a title=\"TreeSize Free V2.70\" href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/GRbRc\" target=\"_blank\">treesize<\/a>&#8221; to view what was taking up the space.<\/p>\n<p>From research this folder can be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">safely<\/span> deleted, however you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">MUST NOT<\/span> delete the top level &#8220;Installer&#8221; folder &#8220;C:\\WINDOWS\\Installer&#8221; (only the\u00a0sub-folders\u00a0inside it)<\/p>\n<p>A quick method for deleting this directory is:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stop &#8220;Windows Installer Service&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre lang=\"basic\">net stop msiserver<\/pre>\n<p>Run the &#8220;Remove Directory&#8221; command (\/q Quiet: \/q | Removes all directories and files: \/s)<\/p>\n<pre lang=\"basic\">rmdir \/q \/s %WINDIR%\\Installer\\$PatchCache$<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Start &#8220;Windows Installer Service&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre lang=\"basic\">net start msiserver<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Reference:<\/strong> <a title=\"Installer\\$PatchCache$ on OS drive is very big\" href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/SW5M9\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/goo.gl\/SW5M9<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Running out of the diskspace on C:\\ I found the\u00a0C:\\WINDOWS\\Installer\\$PatchCache$ to be massive!
